April 2014 – puppet making workshops by artist, Martha Maguire, for nursery teachers at 2 creative charitable schools, one in Matemwe and one in Bububu.
Panga Chumvi Beach Resort is situated next to the village of Matemwe, on the north eastern coast of Zanzibar. The resort is right on the beautiful, white sand beach (the longest unbroken stretch of beach in Zanzibar), opposite the pristine coral reef of Mnemba Island. We have 15 beautiful en-suite rooms: 6 are newly converted beach-side rooms; 5 in a large traditionally designed house – Mchanga Mdogo – constructed with coconut palm (makuti) roof and hand-crafted coconut wood furniture throughout; the bungalow with 4 luxury double or twin rooms – all with cool natural ventilation – part of our striving to combine an interesting and welcoming resort with one that is friendly to the Zanzibar environment.
Our restaurant has already gained quite a reputation for it’s excellent cuisine and fabulous beach environment.
There is wi-fi available throughout the resort. In addition to the beach, our extensive garden has many shady or sunny lounging areas for relaxing or sunbathing. The sea is ever present, washing right up to the garden edge at high tide. We can advise guests about activities such as snorkelling, diving, visiting local historical sites or going on tours of the spice farms.
